LG launched their entry level Android smartphone, the Optimus L3, last Saturday afternoon at SM Mall of Asia.
To hype things up, LG got one of the local bands, PARALUMAN, to play a few songs before introducing their celebrity ambassadors for the Optimus L3, Coleen Garcia and UAAP’s Kiefer Ravena. One of the highlights of the event was to showcase the features of the Optimus L3 as well as to introduce its new design identity which is the L-Style.
We were able to have a conversation with Mr. Lawrence Kim, VP for Mobile Product Marketing, about the Optimus L3 and its advantage over other entry level smartphones currently in the market. He explained that the main focus behind the design of the L3 is to give the consumers the best smartphone experience at a very low price.
For starters, the Optimus L3 will give you a 3.2 inch LCD screen, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread, 3.2 megapixel camera, and a Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery at an introductory price of Php 5,990. In other words, LG wants you to have a bigger bang for the buck.
Mr. Kim also explained the nature of the L-Style look on the Optimus L3, an aesthetic design which will be evident as well on the upcoming Optimus L5 and the Optimus L7, in which the letter L stood for Life representing the different kinds of lifestyles and personalities the L-Series smartphones can fit into. LG implemented a square type design, the “Floating Mass” technology for a slimmer look, and metallic accents available in colors black, white, red, hot pink and midnight blue, to appeal to the different types of users.
The launching of the Optimus L3 at SM Mall of Asia was simultaneous with the one at the SM Megamall and gave early buyers a Php 1,000 discount promo with a free jelly cover. The promo only lasted for one hour though (5PM to 6PM), so congratulations to those who were able to buy one.
